While in high school, Diane became extremely interested in different forms of spiritual and mythological divination and self-help. We have traced the beginnings of this to information her mother gave her about her deceased grandmother, also named Diane, who read palms and tarot cards. Soon after this, Diane began researching and collecting things associated with feng shui, tarot, horoscopes, fortune cookies, tea leaf reading, etc. She claims that doing these things connected her to her grandmother, even though they never met “in this dimension.” In addition to their name, both Dianes share the tendency to cloister themselves away from real human interaction.
