Help Me Dance!

Thus far, this vlog has been the most tragic and detrimental to Diane’s healing process. After a few short conversations with her online friends, Diane decided to push the boundaries of her vulnerability once again. Diane created this vlog asking her online friends to help her put together a dance routine. She asked her friends for suggestions, ideas, specific moves, etc. so that she could put together a dance piece for her next vlog diary. However, this idea resulted in complete disaster. Diane received only one response; a dance move that she could in no way perform. The lack of response tore Diane apart. For several weeks she refused to go online and rarely ate. We were afraid that Diane not only decided to abort her diary project, but that the trauma had completely unraveled months of therapy. Fortunately after some extensive therapy sessions, we were able to undo the damage. Diane not only recovered her lost ground, she also decided to continue with the diary.

Lucky Charms

In this vlog, Diane refers to a conversation between her and P.I. that occured during a therapy session. As Diane reveals, Lucky Charms is the Primary Investigator’s favorite breakfast cereal. Once we knew that Diane had a craving for Lucky Charms, we added it to the weekly list of groceries we buy for Diane. Diane occasionally buys her own groceries through amazon.com; however, Sector 16 stocks the majority of her groceries. Because Diane frequently moves from one strange eating habit to the next, the food she purchases for herself suffices only for a short period of time (see eating habits). Sector 16 ensures that Diane has access to a well rounded diet. One that includes some of her more common food choices.

Coldplay

Diane starts this vlog by playing one of her favorite bands Coldplay. The conversation quickly turns from Coldplay to her thoughts and concerns about mind control. Diane is very interested in the ideas of mind control and influential thinking. Many therapy sessions center on these subjects. We believe Diane fixates on mind control and thought influence for two reasons. The first is her fear of being controlled by others. Diane’s extreme case of social anxiety has led her to believe that other people can control her with their minds. By isolating herself, Diane seems to believe that people have less mind control over her because they are 1. Physically separated from her and 2. Less likely to think about her. The second reason for Diane’s fascination with mind control is that she wishes to control the thoughts of others. Diane believes that if she had the power to influence other people’s thoughts, then she could influence them into like her. The need to be liked is related to Diane’s social anxiety and fear of rejection.
