Just Wanted to Say
Here Diane outwardly recognizes that a large amount of time passed between the posting of “Lucky Charms” and her most recent vlog “Coldplay”. We feel that this vlog is one of the most exciting in her diary to date. This vlog clearly demonstrates Diane’s mental improvement. She opens up to her online audience and exposes her vulnerability to rejection. Diane’s fear of scrutiny makes her particularly afraid of confrontation. This is Diane’s first real step towards dealing with confrontation and the judgments of others.

After admitting that she had been afraid of rejection, Diane posted another vlog asking for her online friends to participate in the making of her diary. We believe Diane’s willingness to reattempt a vlog soliciting audience participation is due to her renewed sense of empowerment given by the openness of the last vlog. While Diane seems to be once again open to this form of vlog creation, we are apprehensive about the potentially negative outcome. Diane seems to believe that she can handle this kind of rejection again; however, we are afraid that she is not. We feel that two consecutive rejections of this nature would halt any further vlog making indefinitely. More importantly, it could have seriously damaging affects on our therapeutic plan for Diane.

In this vlog, Diane begins by mentioning that she has received recipes from two of her friends. We are very relieved that people are responding to Diane’s vlogs. This positive reinforcement may enhance our therapy with Diane and accelerate her recovery rate. Diane also mentions that her birthday is coming up. Holidays are always difficult for Diane. They seem to remind her that while she feels safe, she is lonely in her isolated state. We are happy that Diane has decided to hold the cooking show on her birthday. This may keep her too busy to realize that she has no one with which to share her birthday. Diane also mentions that she no longer has any siblings.
